Launching a Data Migration for a Global, Online Automotive Marketplace

A global, online automotive marketplace that offers an online application that connects automotive consumers with dealers and their inventory. The online marketplace’s growth strategy is to offer new and enhanced products and services. To accomplish this, enhancement of their sales, marketing and billing applications as well as a means to migrate existing data was required. The marketplace partnered with Triverus to drive the migration and integration to support this strategic initiative.

Challenges

A key challenge of this project was the shift from the use of custom Salesforce objects and code in favor of using out-of-the-box Salesforce CPQ functionality whenever possible. This shift resulted in major changes to the data architecture, increasing the complexity of the data migration transformations.

Results

The global automotive marketplace was able to successfully launch its first organizational market into the new application environment. The data migration effort, capped by a billing and revenue reconciliation milestone, was a complete success and a rollout to the rest of the organization is underway.  Having migrated to the new platforms, the organizations’ new market is poised to deliver new and enhanced products, using a more powerful, yet simplified suite of applications.

How We Helped

Within a short timeframe, Triverus was able to design and provision a data migration architecture using SQL Server and SSIS. With this in place, Triverus was able to collect and stage data from source systems (Salesforce and Zuora billing) to begin an exhaustive data profiling effort, in support of a greater data cleansing and grooming initiative.

Working in an agile environment, Triverus was also able to quickly prototype and build subject-oriented data migration processes for review and acceptance as soon as each subject’s requirements were complete. Triverus provided expertise and care in building the data migration, leading to a transformation of their business.
